THE Christian walk

Now, you are saved, you have eternal life, you are now a child of God, your sins are forgiven, and no one can take that away from you.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39

So, where do you go from here?  Between now and the time that God takes you home you have two choices: Seek God, the revelation of His ways through His inspired word, or go back to your old ways and forget about God.  The better choice (by far) is to seek God, His ways, His thinking, and His plan, will, and purpose for your life.

You don’t know much at this point, and that is the best place to start - to start learning.  The bible is the inspired word of God and it is the best place to start.  If you don’t have one, you need to get a bible.  If you don’t know of a church in the area, you need to find one.  The important thing is to find a church where the Pastor teaches the truth of the word of God.  The more times a week the better.  Try to find your right pastor through prayer and seeking.  If you try a church and it doesn’t feel right don’t force it, find another one.  God will bring you to a Pastor that can get you started in the Christian way of life.  There are many resources available to you, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.  God wants you to learn all you can about Him.  He wants your thinking to change.  He also wants you to know:

“You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.  But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

2 Peter 3:18

By finding a Pastor to teach you, by finding a church to grow in, by spending time learning God’s Word, you will find His ways and His plan for your life.  As you grow spiritually, on a daily basis, you will move toward fulfilling this commandment:

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:2

Remember that you have your whole life to get closer to God, but also remember that life is short, make all of it that you can while you can.  Right now bible teaching is what you need to find:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

Matthew 7:7-8

Remember that God has a marvelous plan for your life, no matter how much time you have left on this earth:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.  You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you, declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 29:11-14

Start today, continue tomorrow, and then continue day after day.  Make a daily decision to follow God, and His word, the rest of your life.

However, do remember that none of us are perfect.  God is perfect, we are not.  By God’s grace he has made a provision for your failure as well ...

One last thought ...

The mind of christ

Life is short and your days are numbered.  Make all of your days count spiritually.  Get on track to learn about God and get started on your new life.  Start seeking God through His inspired word, the Bible.
